Jesenia De Moya Correa is specialized in bilingual, multimedia reporting on science, health and the environment for Latino Caribbean communities on the islands and in the United States of America. Most recently, she was named Director of the Latino Media Initiative at the Center for Community Media.

Director, Latino Media Initiative at Center for Community Media: (June 2023 – Present).

  • Developing strategies to support business development in the Latino Community Media ecosystem.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with partners in key locations around the country.
  • Assisting with the grant-seeking, reporting, research and training programs needed to improve the U.S. Latine journalism ecosystem.

Multimedia Reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer: (June 2018 – August 2022).

  • Came to the newspaper as one of the six journalists to inaugurate the Lenfest Journalism Fellowship, a two-year program to do reporting in the Philadelphia region between the summers of 2018 and 2020.
  • Was one of the 14 journalists nationwide selected to participate in a reporting fellowship on new economies and solutions to climate change offered by The Media Consortium.
  • Built and developed the Latinx communities beat for The Inquirer. Founded and managed El Inquirer, the paper’s Spanish-language site for the region, since August 2019.
  • Was selected one of the 10 journalists of color in Philadelphia to participate in the Lenfest Institute’s Constellation News Leadership Initiative.
  • Ideated and conceptualized the structure for The Inquirer’s Communities and Engagement Desk as part of the paper’s INQ4All anti-racist initiatives.
  • Was awarded one of 13 fellowships to attend the Science-Health-Environment Reporting Fellowship program offered by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writers, the Association of Health Care Journalists and the Society of Environmental Journalists.

  • Organized a 4 to 6 hours’ weekend shooting with an 8-member technical and artistic crew.

Media and Marketing Summer Intern at The Nature Conservancy: (June 2015 – August 2015).

  • Produced social media content (drafted images and text) for weekly posting on Twitter.
  • Performed online and offline information and content research to support media and marketing team to pitch and approach media outlets, journalists and public representatives.

Print Journalism Internship: Periodista por un Año at Editora Listin Diario: (July 2012 – July 2013).

  • Gathered and wrote general news assignments and in-depth features for all six sections (local, national, sports, economics, culture, entertainment) of the oldest Dominican newspaper and for the regional magazine “Zona N”.
  • Participated in editorial discussions and proofread the weekly section “El Norte”.
