El residencial Luis Lloréns Torres resultaba ser el “proyecto perfecto” para analizar, según el arquitecto Nando Micale. “Se sitúa entre estos dos cuerpos de agua, fue construída sobre un lecho de manglares y es el próximo proyecto a ser remodelado por la Oficina de la Vivienda”, explicó el instructor de uno de los laboratorios de diseño de la Universidad de Pensilvania.

Parishioners share some TLC w/ Puerto Ricans

We were all worried for those in the Caribbean. My grandmother’s relatives, my husband’s parents, my cousins and most of my friends and colleagues live in Dominican Republic. And, it was only logical to fear for the flooding and mayor food loss we know the islands would go through during the hurricane season. But this one was different. In a matter of hours, that hurricane, María, traveled towards and hit Puerto Rico right in the middle.

New findings on Hispaniolan monkeys

The collecting of a primate femur and other fossil remains lead to a new breakthrough in Caribbean paleontology. Specialists discovered fossils of a primate and other species in a southern area of Hispaniola, presented in a preliminary study which suggests a higher level of endemism in the region and extends the territorial distribution patterns of endemic monkeys throughout the island.

Dirt, Bones & Siobhán Cooke

About 1 million years ago, endemic monkeys used to live on islands of the Caribbean. What today is one of our getaway destinations -Dominican Republic and Haiti-, is also a project site for scientists who look for fossil remains, some of which lead to new territorial distributions of these species’ habitats and to the understanding of their ruling over the Hispaniola, the reason why they’ve gone extinct.

La Cumbre del Clima casi concluye. Son muchos los debates que se han realizado en París, y los que faltan por llevarse a cabo en estos once días de ejecución.

Se espera un acuerdo entre los más de 150 representantes de Estado que pretenden frenar los cambios que el clima ha experimentado, al menos, en los últimos 30 años. ¿Acuerdo? ¿Frenar?
